The Launch of Industry Learn and Excel Apprenticeship Programme (iLEAP) and SkillsHub

Lifelong Learning Centre is honored to be part of the committee for the launching ceremony of the industry Learn and Excel Apprenticeship Programme (iLEAP) & SkillsHub held on 22nd August 2022 at V-Plaza Hotel, Kuala Belait. The ceremony was jointly organized by the Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC) Secretariat under the Prime Minister’s Office and the Manpower Industry Steering Committee Working Group (MISC-WG) Energy, a committee under the MPEC.

Present as the guest of honour for the ceremony was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew Bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance and Economy II, as the Chairman of MPEC. Also present was Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Matsatejo bin Sokiaw, Deputy Minister, Department of Energy in the Prime Minister’s Office.

The ceremony began with welcoming remarks by Yang Mulia Dayang Hajah Rosita binti Haji Hassan as the MISC-WG Energy Lead. She shared that there is the need to address the competency level of the existing workforce in the energy industry. For this, iLEAP aims to upskill existing local workforce in the energy sector to gain recognized qualifications in technical areas. She also mentioned how SkillsHub, a centralized information platform, aims to provide professional development through affordable and accessible quality training.

The event also witnessed the presentation of certificates of appreciation to companies who participated in iLEAP and as Industrial Placement (IP) host companies for the first cohort of iSkill trainees. Exhibitions by MISC-WG Energy and its strategic partners were also showcased during the event.
