INDUSTRY LEARN AND EXCEL APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAMME (iLEAP)

An in-service training programme designed to upskill / reskill local employees from private companies under the Energy Industry in the 4 skill domains (Marking-Fitting, Scaffolding, Rigging and Blasting-Painting.

This programme is conducted by Lifelong Learning Centre (L3C) under the Manpower Industry Steering Committee (MISC) Working Group for Energy (MISC-WG Energy) Industry Skill Certificate (ISC) in collaboration with Manpower Planning and Employment Council (MPEC) as the main sponsors and Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) as the awarding organisation for the programme.

Trainees will undergo Technical English Bridging Course Level 2 prior to skill training at respective RTO (Registered Training Organisation) and throughout OJT (On-Job-Training as described below.

What is the NTEC Apprenticeship In Welding (Oil and Gas Industry) Course ?

Course Goals

To Provide knowledge and skills in basic welding processes and techniques relevant to the current industries.

Learning Objectives

At the end of the programme, the students will be able to: perform shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding, gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), oxyacetylene welding, oxy fuel cutting and plasma cutting; filler materials are melted and added to the weld puddle to give the joint greater strength; control the amount of heat and the size of the melted area; add the proper amount of filler material in order to form a strong joint; learn use of welding tools, materials, safety procedures, layout and fit-up of materials and pike.

What to expect

Trainees will spend 18 months to complete the course.

who is it for?

iLEAP is open to local employees with a minimum of 1 year working experience in the Energy industry.

WHEN IS THE COMMENCEMENT DATE?

The NTEC APPRENTICESHIP IN WELDING (OIL AND GAS INDUSTRY) and iLEAP will start on 25 September 2023 respectively.

FUNDING ASSISTANCE

  • Full funding assistance for the Technical English Bridging Course Level 2 is available under MPEC SkillsPlus programme.
  • MPEC will sponsor half of the skills training fees & the other half will be borne by the Company.
