L³ Centre participates in 8th Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF) Regional Conference on Higher Education (ARC8)

On Friday, 10th September 2021, Acting Director of Lifelong Learning Centre, Dr. Sheikh Lukman bin Sheikh Abdul Hamid attended the virtual 8th Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF) Regional Conference on Higher Education (ARC8) on the theme “Outlook 2030: Inclusive and Diverse Higher Education in Asia and Europe” where he had participated as one of the ARC8 experts in dialogue sessions.

The ARC8 Conference is a platform at which connects all ASEM education stakeholders and provide a stage to the voices from civil societies to inform education policy makers. This contributes to the ASEM Education process as a multi-stakeholder platform that connects Ministries of Education, Higher Education Institutions and civil society organizations.

During the conference, the “Outlook Report 2030: Inclusive and Diverse Higher Education in Asia and Europe” was launched. The report consists of policy recommendations on how to enhance inclusion by the next decade and serves as a basis for policy dialogues and input to the discussions on the ASEM Education Strategy and Action Plan 2030 during SOM1, SOM2 and ASEMME8.

L³ Centre participates in 17th APEC Future Education Forum (AFEF) and the 19th International ALCoB

On the 30th of September 2021, Acting Director of Lifelong Learning Centre, YM Dr. Sheikh Lukman bin Sheikh Abdul Hamid attended the 17th APEC Future Education Forum (AFEF) and the 19th International ALCoB Conference on behalf of Brunei Darussalam. The event was organized by the Institute of APEC Collaborative Education (IACE). Also present was Acting Assistant Director (Administration) of Lifelong Learning Centre, YM Sumardi bin Haji Abdul Hamid.

The annual APEC Future Education Forum (AFEF) and the International ALCoB Conference serve as an opportunity to share innovative future-oriented educational policies and practices in the APEC region. The virtual events gathered educational policymakers, scholars, experts, teachers, and entrepreneurs from APEC member economies to share the vision of future education and to draw recommendations for ideal educational models and future schools.

The theme for this year’s virtual event was “Strengthening lifelong competencies and skills development for individuals’ career, education, training and life cycles”. This is in line with our mission to build holistic individuals and inclusive society by improving the opportunities for lifelong learners of all ages.

The Ministry of Education through Lifelong Learning Centre will continue to work on ensuring lifelong learning opportunities are readily available and accessible. Supporting the national lifelong learning system remains our top agenda.
